Like many photographers, Red Gum owner Don Dormeyer dreamed of building the perfect studio: one that could change to meet creative and production needs and budgets - from a tabletop shoot to a car commercial, an underwater fashion shoot to a music video - a space to serve as a location and a studio. With Red Gum Studios, he's done just that. "I built it, because it didn't exist," he says. "Because that's what artists do, we create." Others have described the studio as "an artist's playground" and "the biggest little film studio around." Designed by artists for artists, it is ever evolving. Dormeyer describes the space as versatile, and this is certainly true. With live video feed from studio to client area, an in-floor automotive carousel and a pool with underwater camera portholes and backdrops, Red Gum is one fun place. "Helping artists create is our ongoing project," Dormeyer says. "The studio is the brick and mortar facility toward that goal." - Studio Guide 2011
